Ring Bearer Bowl – Great Alternative to the Pillow

20120428-100244.jpg

I love the idea of a ring bearer bowl. It is so pretty and a lot more useful after the event than the satin ring bearer pillow; after all, how many people actually look at those things after the wedding ceremony?!

The ring bearer bowl can be placed on a night stand or dresser in your home, to hold rings, a necklace, watch or other jewelry piece. Have it customized with your names, biblical scripture and wedding date, to have as a constant memory of that very special day.

Happy Anniversary to Yvette & Garmar

20120501-082942.jpg

We want to take a moment to celebrate the first “official” couple of Alpha Prosperity Events, and wish a Happy Anniversary to Garmar & Yvette. They were married three years ago this week, on May 2nd, 2009. They now live in the Dallas area and are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Hannah.

Working with this couple and their family was truly a blessing. I have known the bride’s grandmother for a number of years. Actually, she was my boss for six years and was instrumental in allowing me to learn my craft as an event planning professional. She came to me, years after her retirement, and asked me to assist with the planning of her grand-daughter’s wedding. As a result of my relationship with this family and the opportunity they gave to me, Alpha Prosperity Events’ business story began.

Here’s a toast to Yvette and Garmar, “May your days and years together remain strong and true, full of love, blessings and wonderful memories. Thank you for trusting me with your special day. You two will always one of my favorite couples. I love you guys.”

How to Freeze the Top Layer of Wedding Cake

20120424-174402.jpg

Some traditions never die, no matter how old they are or how unused, for example, the tradition of freezing the top layer of the wedding cake. There are so many opinions about this subject, and depending upon who you ask, is either a must do or a forget about it. Speaking from personal experience, I enjoyed the top layer of my wedding cake on my one year anniversary. The cake tasted fabulous on my wedding day and it tasted fabulous a year later. When packaged correctly, you get to enjoy the memories of the day, one year later.

Here are some suggestions for freezing wedding cakes:
1. Wrap entire cake layer in a generous amount of plastic wrap, and then wrap with several layers of aluminum foil, two or three sheets should do. Make sure the cake sits on a covered cake board, so that you don’t get the stale cardboard taste.
2. Place wrapped cake in sealable baggy.
3. Secure wrapped and sealed cake in a airtight storage container, to protect from getting smashed or destroyed in the freezer.

It is important to freeze cake as soon as possible, so don’t wait until after your honeymoon. Before the reception, decide who will be in charge of packaging the portion of the cake you choose to freeze to make sure it is taken care of, if not the same day, at least the next day. When you choose to have a wedding planner or coordinator for your day, this task or detail is something you don’t have to concern yourself with because we take care of it for you; amongst the many other details.

Are you planning to celebrate your first anniversary with the top tier of your wedding cake? How are you planning to use items from your wedding day to celebrate future anniversaries and stir the memories?

Want to create an inspiration board or collage to help plan your wedding day vision? Check out PicCollage, available at the AppStore.  It is a great little app that allows you to create your collage or inspiration board using photos you already have, photos you find on the internet or even photos taken with the camera from your Ipad.  It is so easy to use and you can do so many fun things with it.  Bring your collage to meetings with your wedding planner and other wedding day vendors to help communicate your desired vision.  Or share it with your bridal party to help make dress shopping for you and them so much easier.

So get the app and start collecting those pictures and snapping those photos because this is just too easy and too convenient not to take advantage of.

Let me know where you take your vision. Feel free to email your boards. I would love to share them here on the blog to help inspire others.

Wedding Inspiration Wednesday – Modern Hollywood Glam

My Wednesday photo inspiration comes from the great photos I found at StyleMePretty.com.   Style Me Pretty is a great resource when you need some inspiration to help get your thoughts and concepts together to create that “wow” event.  This board I call “Modern Hollywood Glam.”  I was going for an elegant, 1940′s feel.  Now this is my kind of wedding event. What do you think? What era speaks to you?

When planning a wedding or any event, it helps to create boards such as this to help you decide on a vision and color scheme. Your wedding planner can help you find photos and hone in on ideas and concepts that you never dreamed of.
